### What this allows you to do

Define the order in which components are built and installed so instruction steps follow a clear, logical, and manufacturable sequence.

### What Sequencing Is

In BuildOS, **sequencing** controls the build and installation order of components within an assembly.

Sequencing is typically finalized in **Instruction View** to ensure steps are presented in the correct order for operators.

### Ways to Sequence an Assembly

#### Auto-Sequencing

BuildOS provides a sequencing recommendation engine to quickly establish an initial build order.

* Right-click in the part tree at any level of hierarchy
* Choose **Shallow Sequence** or **Deep Sequence**

**Shallow Sequence** applies recommendations only at the selected level.\
**Deep Sequence** dives into phantoms and applies recommendations throughout the hierarchy.

After running auto-sequencing, you can preview the suggested changes, including how many positions components moved and in which direction.

#### Manual Sequencing

You can manually adjust sequence at any time by **dragging and dropping components** in the part tree.

### Recommended Workflow

1. Run auto-sequencing to establish a baseline order
2. Preview and accept the recommendation
3. Manually adjust as needed to match your final build logic

### Key Tips

* Use auto-sequencing to save time creating your build sequence
* Always review recommendations before accepting
* Manual sequencing ensures edge cases are handled correctly
