# Create a New Project & Import CAD

{% embed url="<https://dirac-webflow-videos-cdn.b-cdn.net/gitbook-demo-videos/Creating%20a%20New%20Project%20(1).mp4>" %}

### What this allows you to do

Create a new BuildOS project and bring in your CAD so you can begin structuring assemblies and authoring work instructions.

### When to use this

Use this any time you are:

* Starting a new build or program in BuildOS
* Importing CAD for the first time
* Creating a new version of an existing assembly

### Key tips

* BuildOS will automatically name the project based on the uploaded file, but you can rename it at any time
* You can choose between BuildOS’s initial sequence recommendation or preserving the original CAD order
* Assembly structure is preserved and prepared automatically for instruction authoring
