How to leave, manage, and resolve comments during instruction review

Leave feedback on instruction revisions during review. Comments are attached to steps and organized as threads.

Operators do not see the Review panel, and therefore do not see comments.

## Adding a comment

1. In the instruction tree, select the step you want to comment on.
2. In the **Comments** panel, type your feedback and click the checkmark icon to submit.

Your comment appears as a new thread. Others can reply to continue the discussion.

## Viewing comments

The Comments panel has two tabs:

* **All** — Every comment on the revision, grouped by step. Each step header shows a badge with the unresolved thread count, or a green checkmark when all threads on that step are resolved. Click **View step** to navigate to the commented step.
* **Current Step** — Only the comments for the currently selected step.

Threads can be collapsed or expanded individually from the root comment.

## Replying to a comment

Click **Reply** on any comment thread to add a response. Replies appear chronologically beneath the original comment. Threading is single-level — you cannot reply to a reply.

## Editing a comment

Open the **three-dot menu** on your own comment and select **Edit**. You can edit a comment as long as:

* You are the author
* The thread has not been resolved
* The revision has not been approved

Edited comments show an **(edited)** indicator next to the timestamp.

## Resolving a comment thread

When feedback has been addressed:

1. Open the thread's **three-dot menu** and select **Mark as resolved**.
2. Enter a resolution note explaining how the issue was addressed (required).
3. Click the checkmark icon to confirm.

The thread shows a green checkmark and a **Resolved** label.

To reopen a resolved thread, open its three-dot menu and select **Unresolve**.

## Comments and approval

All comment threads on live steps must be resolved before a revision can be approved. While unresolved threads remain, the **Approve** action is disabled and shows the count of unresolved threads.

When submitting a revision for approval with unresolved comments, a dialog warns you about the count. You can still submit the revision for review and address the comments afterwards — but the final **Approve** step stays blocked until every thread is resolved.

Once a revision is approved, all comments become **read-only** — no new comments, edits, replies, or resolution changes can be made.

Comments on steps deleted in the current revision do not block approval — they are excluded from the unresolved count.

## Good to know

* Comments are scoped to the revision they were created on and do not carry over to new revisions.
* Threading is single-level: comments and replies. Nested replies are not supported.
