# Filtering

This will cover the various filtering features to help you craft instructions.

## Filter by Bill of Materials

You can filter the 3D viewer and the assembly tree on Model view by using the Bill of Materials menu. This menu is in the bottom left on Model view.

Expanding the Bill of Materials menu will show all of the unique parts of your assembly, and their count. Selecting one of these will filter the 3D viewer to [highlight](https://dirac-inc.gitbook.io/dirac/how-to-be-successful-in-buildos/concepts/3d-viewer#highlighting) the selected parts, and will only show the parts in the assembly tree.

Using the Bill of Materials filter is great for making [clusters](https://dirac-inc.gitbook.io/dirac/how-to-be-successful-in-buildos/concepts/steps#cluster-step), and getting a better look at the components in your assembly.

## Filter by text and type of step

You can search through using the search button on top of the tree. You can enter the text you wish to search by, and additionally filter by the types of items in your assembly.
