# Edit animations

This will cover how to edit your animations.

## Use generated animations

BuildOS provides animations automatically. You can view these generated animations in the Animation menu by clicking the Simulate button in the right side menu.

Here you can see the animations BuildOS generated automatically. You can preview the animations by clicking on an item to preview.

When previewing, you can see the animation in the 3D window, and you can switch between the suggested animation and the existing animation.

Once you have previewed the animation, you can accept or reject it.

## Manually

If you wish to manually edit the animations, you can do so from the Animation Editor menu, which can be opened from the right side menu.

Here you can select the animation to use for the step. The options are:

1. None - no animation shown
2. Auto - Use the BuildOS generated animation
3. Custom - create a custom animation to display

#### Creating custom animations

To create a custom animation, select "Custom", and then select a part in the 3D viewer. You can move the point around in 3D space and see the line of animation. If you wish to add more points to the animation, you can manipulate the "Point Count" in the Animation Editor menu.

If you have a cluster or kit selected, you can manipulate all of the points at once by using the "Consolidated Step Selection". Selecting "Uniform" will allow you to move all of the parts in the cluster or kit at once, instead of doing it one by one.
