# Add requirements

This will cover how to add tools, standard notes, media, and consumables to your instruction steps.

You can add requirements to your instructions, in the form of tools, [fixtures](/user-guide/project-open/adding-fixtures.md), standard notes, media, and consumables. You can add these through the Requirements menu which can be opened from the right side menu:

## Global, local, and hidden

If you wish to make a requirement [global, local, or hidden](https://dirac-inc.gitbook.io/dirac/how-to-be-successful-in-buildos/concepts/requirements#local-global-and-hidden), you can modify it using the menu shown inside the item you wish to modify.

See the [concepts page for requirements](/how-to-be-successful-in-buildos/concepts/requirements.md) to understand more!
