# Animations

This will cover animations, and how to use them effectively.

## Animations

Animations show how a part or collection of parts is installed into an assembly. Each step has 3 options for the animation:

* None - no animation shown
* Auto - display the animation determined by BuildOS
* Custom - Define a custom animation

## Automation tools

BuildOS automatically determines the animations for every step. Automatically generated animations can be viewed and accepted through the animation panel under simulation. Here you can preview the animations generated by BuildOS, and accept them into your project. You can also preview the existing animation for a step, and decide which path you wish to keep in your project.

## Custom tools

If you wish to create a custom animation, BuildOS gives you tools to easily do so. By selecting the edit animation tab, you can select a part whose animation you wish to adjust, and quickly make changes in the 3D viewer. You can also edit all the animations for a cluster at once.
